The Sooner Club

Championship Points

Sooner Club members earn points through gifts to OU Athletics for both priority seating and philanthropic gifts. To comply with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, a ‘dual-point’ system is used to recognize tax deductible giving. Deductible gifts are considered those above and beyond the required annual per-seat donation.

What are Championship Points used for?
Championship Points are utilized for membership benefits including seat selection times for the Red River Rivalry and seat locations for away games and postseason play. These benefits are reallocated each year and may not be the same from year to year.

How does OU determine my member rank based on Championship Points?
When receiving member benefits, members will be ranked by membership level first, then Championship Points within the level.

Priority Points New

IMPORTANT!
By implementing a separate priority point system (Championship Points), we’re able to account for total giving along with retaining tax-deductible options. Inspiring Champions Fund and facility gifts don’t influence home ticket priority and will be tax deductible.

Championship Allocations

Members who give above and beyond the required priority seating gifts will be recognized through membership benefits, including event invitations and seat locations for the biggest away games and postseason play. Members will be ranked by membership level first, then Championship Points within the level.

Championship Benefits:

  • Red River Rivalry Tickets & Seat Selection Time
  • Away Game Tickets
  • Postseason Tickets
  • Special Event Invitations
  • Home Game Parking Selection Time

DID YOU KNOW?
Over 55% of members made philanthropic gifts above and beyond their seat requirements in 2024. You can too, by making a gift to the Inspiring Champions Fund, facility projects or scholarships.

For decades, OU Athletics has been a pioneer in the resources committed to student-athletes as well as how we develop Sooners for Life. These new initiatives incorporate our three areas of focus for our future as a department and student-athlete care – to recruit the best and brightest student-athletes, to excel as a Sooner while you’re at OU, and for our letterwinners to inspire the next generation.

RECRUIT THE BEST • EXCEL AS A SOONER • INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION

Since 2000, the total scholarship costs to the University of Oklahoma Athletics department has increased by over $16 million to a total scholarship bill of nearly $20 million. Our current scholarship endowment holds an annual expendable amount at just under $1.5 million to be used toward scholarships across a variety of sports creating an annual need of $18.5 million. Scholarship gifts offset this annual expense and provide meaningful investment into the long-term success of OU Athletics.
